Last year I became agitated when I suddenly realized I had an irrational fear of synthesizer sound design, or more specifically, a fear of failing to create good synth sounds from scratch. To help me work through this issue, I decided to make an EP where I designed every sound from scratch on a synthesizer, no presets or modified presets allowed. I had an equally irrational love of simple triangle waves that I can only guess stems from playing too much NES as a kid, and so I placed a further limitation on the project: All sounds must be, at their core, a triangle wave.
I ended up with five ideas, Triangle 1 through 5. For some reason, Triangle 3 worked out to be the sweet spot. Seems appropriate, what with the number of sides and all. When I chose it to be my release for April and started working on it, it quickly became clear I was going to have to be less strict with the palette of sound sources if I wanted to bring it up to par...
SURVIVORS: My Triangle Piano, My Triangle Snare, My Bubbling Autopanning Triangle, My Little Percussive Triangle Self-Consciously Dancing in the Left Speaker, My Triangle Piano (Bright Edition)
RIP: The Little Triangle Kick Drum That Couldn't, The Triangle Bass That Could Not Compete w/Even the Cheapest Bass Guitar, Triangle Boop
I recommend this song for listening when you are doing things other than just staring at the speakers, watching the sound come out. If you enjoy the vibe this creates for your activity, you may be interested to know this...
...(interesting fact)...
...
WHAT IS THIS FACT? "Triangle 3" is very precisely cut to be a perfect loop.
BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME? Funny you should ask, You... If you play the song over and over with no space in between (the iTunes "Repeat One" function will do this), it will loop in time, more or less seamlessly.
THAT'S WONDERFUL! DOESN'T THAT MEAN THAT BY PLACING THIS SONG ON LOOP I CAN ESSENTIALLY CREATE AN INFINITELY LONG SONG, WHICH NOT ONLY I CAN LIVE MY ENTIRE LIFE TO, BUT ALSO ALL MY DESCENDANTS FOR ALL ETERNITY? WILL THIS NOT SAVE MY FAMILY A FORTUNE IN EXPENSIVE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT PURCHASES, WHICH CAN PROVIDE US THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE NECESSARY TO SURPASS THE EFFORTS OF RIVAL FAMILIES IN ANY AND ALL PURSUITS?
...well yes, it can. I would suggest that you may want to discontinue typing in all caps however. It makes me feel as though you are yelling at me.
I AM SORRY. I MEAN... I am sorry.
It's okay, you just got excited. I understand.

Lyrics:
Ooh ooh ooh,
You're easy to love, like a triangle wave.
All your harmonics are odd.
